What is FastRIP™?
FastRIP™ is a PostScript interpreter called a Raster Image Processor or RIP. PostScript is an industry-standard scripting language that describes the text and graphic elements of a print job. Generally, inkjet printers do not come with a PostScript Interpreter. Even with those that do (Epson Printers use the Epson Stylus Pro RIP); their PostScript capabilities are typically designed for color calibration and not halftone output. Halftone dots are the key to printing vibrant or photorealistic images

FastRIP™ was designed specifically to handle halftones, enabling an inkjet printer to create output very close to imagesetter quality using off-the-shelf Epson inkjet ink. The software is also calibrated to allow for the over 50% dot gain produced when printing inkjet ink to clear film. This means that if your graphic specifies a 50% dot, you won?t get a 70% dot.

In addition to PostScript interpretation, a Raster Image Processor (RIP) also performs high-speed memory management of the raster image and the spooling of multiple jobs to the printer.

Easy To Use
With FastRIP™ you can print directly from Adobe® Photoshop®, Illustrator®, CorelDRAW®, Freehand® or FastFilms™. There are no additional steps and no confusing commands or "hot folders." You specify the halftone line count and angle and send the Print command as you normally would. The images will be crisp, sharp, black and as dense as imagesetter output. Your screens will expose MUCH better and there is no need to constantly adjust exposure times like you must do with laser output.

You aren't limited by the size anymore either. If you use an Epson 4000, you can print up 17"x22". Use the Epson 7600/7800 and print images up to 24" wide. With an Epson 9600/9800, you can produce images up 44" in width! No more tiling and no more shrinking jobs to fit on your laser printer. Plus the registration is DEAD ON! You can also do accurate, calibrated paper color proofs in both standard inkjet output or in halftones so the customer will see what the print will really look like. If you print T-Shirt transfers using special coated paper, FastRIP™ is calibrated to make them look great, too!
